Avery Island's Jungle Gardens - pam-and-edmund-mcilhenny

The Bald Cypress tree is the state tree of Louisiana. Known for its ability to live in water, the Bald Cypress is a symbol of southern swamps. These Bald Cypress swamps provide important habitat for many species of fish and wildlife, and they brighten every fall with their striking orange colors.

Over 2 million Bald Cypress seedlings have been planted over the last 40 years as part of Avery Island's Cypress Swamp Restoration Project, with about 20,000 seedlings planted annually in recent years.
