Avery Island Wildlife - pam-and-edmund-mcilhenny

Turkey Vultures seem to have an ominous image, perhaps because they are so large, and lurk around the dead animals that are their exclusive diet. Yet by nature they are gregarious and non aggressive. They are one of the few birds that use their sense of smell to locate food. In contrast to their excellent sense of smell, they have no vocal organs, and can only grunt or hiss.
